Parrish Medical Center:The Worst Fucking Hospital Ever

Parrish claims to care about people and treat everyone equally. However, it is obvious by the way they treat those who can’t pay that this isn’t true.

I want to inform the whole world about how awful Parrish Medical Center of Titusville, FL is to it’s patients.  In particular, it’s poor patients.

I had my own trouble with Parrish when I was in Florida, which means I am now in the process of trying to sue them.  My complaint involves them denying me pain medication which led to my PTSD, and a doctor there verbally abusing me.  While that is bad in itself-and a violation of Parrish’s own patient bill of rights-at least what they did to me couldn’t possibly be life threatening.  However, in the case of my best friend, it could be.

My best friend, who still unfortunately is stuck down there, has a medical issue that if not treated could lead to death.  She has no insurance, which shouldn’t be an issue because this is a medical emergency and Parrish is a public hospital, and also because to deny her treatment based on whether or not she can pay is also a violation of Parrish’s own patient bill of rights.  Read more about that here.

Parrish claims to care about people and treat everyone equally.  However, it is obvious by the way they treat those who can’t pay that this isn’t true.  They have told my best friend-who has no income-that she must come up with half of the money before they will treat her.  They know the condition is life threatening, but they don’t care.  I mean…she’s poor, so she must deserve to die since she is a waste of space.  This is obviously not true, but we are talking about Florida.  The thinking there is that if you are poor, you don’t deserve quality health care, because it is more important for rich people to get treatment.  Also, the thinking down South is that if you are poor you must be lazy, which is why Governor Scott has refused to expand Medicaid there.

Parrish needs to stop violating their own bill of rights, stop denying basic human and civil rights, and start treating poor and uninsured patients like what they are…human beings.
