DELCELIA PATRINA WITIKA

THIS CHILD WAS USED AS A PUNCHING BAG

Decelia Witika was found dead in New Zealand on March 21, 1991. She was two years old. She was lying on a filthy sheet. She had been burned, beaten, and starved. She had a broken jaw. On the last night of her life she vomited all over. This child was used as a punching bag, and the blood stained walls of her home proved it.

Her mother, Tania claimed her boyfriend, Eddie was beating her and had beaten Decelia. However, evidence showed that even though this may have occurred, Tania still failed to provide medical care for Decelia, who suffered for many weeks. Both Eddie and Tania were charged with the death of Decelia, but each only received a ridiculous 16 year sentence.

Tania has since become a mother again and tried to become a social worker. Whether she is trying to redeem herself I don’t know, and I do believe in second chances, but I want to point out that Decelia didn’t get a second chance. I also want to laugh at anyone convicted of child abuse being allowed to be a social worker, but considering the fact that many social workers go after people for the wrong reasons, it wouldn’t surprise me to hear that a social worker had been convicted of child abuse.
