Today on Reddit I found this article about a woman who rescued puppies from a backyard breeder who was purposely breeding them to only have two legs.

Puppy and kitty mills are horrible places where the animals are kept caged and constantly pregnant until they can no longer breed.  Then they can end up who knows where.  Dead, almost always.  Backyard breeders are the worst of the worst.  Usually, a puppy or kitty mill is at least licensed, though that does nothing stop the cruelty.  However, backyard breeders don’t have licenses because they either keep the amount of animals the keep under a certain number, or because they hide what they are doing.

We need to stop breeding, period.  It is not just because of this person wanting to purposely breed deformed animals for profit, it is also because of the millions of dogs, cats, etc languishing in shelters, waiting for their forever home.  When you buy from a breeder, you are paying for an adoptable animal to spend another day in the shelter.  Shelters can be wonderful places, but there is no place like home.
