It is sad that so many people don’t realize that abuse isn’t just physical.  Manipulation, name calling, and demeaning people are all abusive behaviors.  Being controlling is an abusive behavior.  You don’t have to be hit to be abused.  Also, any relationship can be abusive.  Even friendships.  If you feel like a relationship is abusive it probably is.  It is up to you to decide whether or not it is worth salvaging.  I believe some abusers can be helped.  I also believe that a victim should never give up their control once they get it back.
