DOGFIGHTING

Dear Friend and Former Lover Who Unfriended Me Over Michael Vick,

I find it sad that you have decided to give up almost 30 years of friendship over what this person did.  He took innocent dogs and fought them as a way to make money, despite the fact that he already had plenty of money to spare.  Even if he had been dirt poor there is never a good reason to resort to dogfighting.

As a member of Best Friends Animal Society I have followed this case from day one.  To me it really isn’t important what happened to Michael Vick.  I care about the dogs.  If Best Friends had not stepped in all the dogs would have been put down.  Instead they were adopted.  Many assumed that because they had been used in fighting they would be vicious.  The exact opposite has actually been the case.

I believe that abusing or exploiting anyone-human or non-human-is wrong.  What Michael Vick did was awful.  His punishment was a joke.  I am only sorry that you find it more important to defend this jackass you have never met than you do to preserve your friendship with me.
