Every year the city of Waterloo, IA holds Cattle Congress.  It is a fair with rides, food, etc.  There are always animals there as it is supposed to be a way to honor Iowa’s farming heritage.  Really it should be in memory of our farming heritage, since the small family farmers have been almost completely wiped out by factory farming.

This year it seems that thrill rides and fair food aren’t enough.  They are also having a rodeo and a live tiger show.  So let me get this straight…in order to bring people to Cattle Congress it is better to subject animals to exploitation and violence than it is to add more rides or more live music.  I am sure people will choose thrill rides over animal cruelty, so why even have a rodeo or the tigers?

I am definately boycotting Cattle Congress this year.
