WOODS AND BEES

I found out today that we have lost a third of our wilderness since the 1990s.  I also found out that we have lost 1/3 of our bee population.  I already knew we had lost a lot of bees.  I didn’t know we had lost that much wilderness.

We need all the animals we share the Earth with, including bees.  Maybe I should say especially bees because how do you plan to eat without pollination? We could probably find a way but it wouldn’t be the same.  Imagine a world with no flowers.

We also need our wild places.  Animals need their homes, not a cage in a zoo.  Plants need places to grow.  We need places to just be.  Ever noticed how a hike in the woods just makes you feel better? There is a reason for that.

For better or worse, we are all connected.  We kill and destroy the Earth and we kill and destroy ourselves.
